The Leader of the Guinean Parliament, Cipriano Cassamá, met at Palácio Colinas de Boé, with Diplomat Mauro Luiz Lecker Vieira, President of the Guinea-Bissau configuration of the United Nations Commission for the consolidation of peace.
After the meeting, the former Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, told journalists that the purpose of his first visit to Bissau is to collect information on current political issues in the country and, consequently, to examine them for the preparation of the report on Guinea. -Bissau that the Commission will present at the UN Security Council later this year, at the end of August.
It should be noted that the Diplomat expressed his interest in establishing an open dialogue with political actors, members of the judiciary and the legislature, with intellectuals and with Guinean civil society. It is important to remember that Guinea-Bissau entered the PBC (Peace Building Commission) agenda in 2007, with the consent of the UN Security Council.
In the years between 2015 and 2017, the Peace Commission released a fund worth 10 million dollars for initiatives based on political dialogue and building national consensus, modernization of defense and security forces, support for the construction of a judicial system independence and participation of youth and women in economic development.
