Mr. Baghdad Ben Amara, President of the Algeria-Congo Parliamentary Friendship Group, and his delegation met today, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with Congolese National Assembly President Isidore Mvouba in Brazzaville.
During the meeting, President Mvouba expressed his pleasure at hosting the delegation and reiterated his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperative relations between the two legislative bodies. He highlighted the importance of such visits in advancing parliamentary diplomacy and the work of friendship groups.
President Mvouba praised Algeria for its strong positions on key continental issues, noting that Algeria’s leadership on matters such as the Palestinian cause serves as a model. He affirmed that Algeria’s voice is both heard and respected on the international stage.
In response, Mr. Ben Amara thanked President Mvouba for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian National People’s Assembly. He emphasized the importance of maintaining communication between the two legislative institutions through their friendship groups.
Mr. Ben Amara also highlighted the urgency of finalizing the draft protocol for parliamentary cooperation to establish meaningful collaboration between the parliaments of Algeria and Congo. He underscored the need for ongoing dialogue and cooperation across various fields to strengthen coordination in international forums.
