The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) has released its latest question paper, outlining a series of oral questions scheduled for discussion on Tuesday, 25 March 2025. The agenda includes key policy matters related to science, technology, innovation, sports, arts, and culture.

Among the critical topics, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation will address outcomes from the recent National System of Innovation Transformation Summit, the equitable implementation of emerging technologies, and economic benefits derived from projects like the Square Kilometre Array and the South African Astronomical Observatory. Additionally, discussions will cover efforts to enhance science, technology, and mathematics education, as well as ongoing collaborations with Iran in the fields of science and technology.

The Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture will respond to questions on government plans to improve sports infrastructure, convert abandoned buildings into cultural hubs, secure funding for cultural institutions, and support artists’ careers. There will also be inquiries into safeguarding measures for athletes in light of recent allegations of abuse within sports organizations and initiatives to promote and develop all official languages equally.

Several questions originally intended for oral response have been transferred for written reply under parliamentary rules. These address additional concerns across both ministries, reflecting the broad scope of oversight and policy focus in the current legislative session.
