The Arab Observatory for Human Rights has denounced the recent statement by the US Secretary of State regarding religious freedom in Algeria, labeling it as misleading and disconnected from reality. In a formal statement, the Observatory criticized US interference in Algeria’s religious freedom issues, asserting that such matters should remain internal, respecting societal and cultural privacy. The Observatory praised Algeria for its model approach to religious freedom, highlighting its legal protections for beliefs and its active participation in regional and international efforts to promote interfaith and intercultural understanding. It emphasized the values of tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue, which are crucial for global security, peace, and stability. The statement also acknowledged the significant contributions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in supporting these efforts.
