The Department of Social Development has issued a call for public comment on proposed amendments to the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant regulations under the Social Assistance Act. These amendments could have a significant impact on beneficiaries receiving the SRD grant, which is currently set at R370 per month.
The notice was published in the Government Gazette No. 52374 on 24 March 2025 and invites stakeholders and members of the public to submit their views on the proposed changes.
