Deputy President Mashatile to Address NCOP on Water Services, Land Reform, and Regional Stability
Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile is set to appear before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Thursday, 27 March 2025, to respond to oral questions from members at Parliament in Cape Town.
As Chairperson of the Water Task Team, the Deputy President will outline the government’s strategy for ensuring quality water service delivery across all provinces, with a particular focus on North West, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal.
In his capacity as Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Land Reform, he will provide an update on progress made in settling outstanding land claims, including those affected by the Land Access Movement of South Africa judgments. He is also expected to detail the government’s Backlog Strategy, developed by the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights, to expedite the resolution of long-standing land claims.
On regional stability, the Deputy President will brief members on South Africa’s ongoing support for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in its pursuit of lasting peace and sustainable development.
Additionally, he will present a series of government initiatives aimed at securing sustainable water supply through infrastructure investment and other measures.
