Deputy President Mashatile to Answer Questions in NCOP
Cape Town – 10 September 2025
Deputy President Paul Mashatile will appear before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Thursday, 11 September, for a hybrid plenary session scheduled at 14:00. He will take oral questions from permanent delegates as part of Parliament’s constitutional mandate to hold the executive accountable.
Mashatile is expected to respond to six questions covering:

Rising unemployment rates;

Government’s processes to address findings by the South African Human Rights Commission against 18 Free State municipalities for constitutional and statutory violations;

Steps as Chairperson of the Water Task Team to enforce accountability and end impunity in municipal management.
The NCOP sitting will run concurrently with a National Assembly plenary, where Members will consider several committee reports. These include the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs’ report on the Immigration Amendment Bill, and the Standing Committee on Auditor-General’s report on correspondence in terms of the Municipal Financial Management Act.
