Parliamentary committee chairpersons from the Governance Cluster will address the media on Monday, 3 March, as part of the 7th Parliament’s ongoing committee cluster media briefing programme.
The weekly media engagement series, launched in November 2024, aims to provide updates on parliamentary activities and governance matters. This week’s briefing will feature four key committee chairpersons:
- Dr Zweli Mkhize, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs
- Ms Teliswa Mgweba, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Mr Jan de Villiers, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration
- Ms Liezl van der Merwe, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth & Persons with Disabilities
The chairpersons are expected to outline the committees’ progress since the start of the 7th Parliament. Topics for discussion will include municipal governance and finance, legislative reforms in state-owned enterprises, the development of an inclusive education system, economic infrastructure for job creation, and efforts to build a professional, ethical, and developmental state.
These briefings play a vital role in promoting transparency and ensuring public access to parliamentary processes. By engaging with the media, Parliament aims to enhance accountability and public awareness of key governance initiatives.
