The Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana, will be back in the National Assembly on Wednesday, 26 October at 2pm to table the MTBPS, the Division of Revenue Amendment Bill and Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill. The MTBPS sets, amongst others, government’s policy goals and priorities, forecasts the macroeconomic trajectory and projects the fiscal framework over the next three years by outlining spending and revenue estimates.
The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Mr Amos Masondo, leads a five Member multi-party delegation attending the First Ordinary Session of the Sixth Pan-African Parliament (PAP), held in Midrand, Johannesburg from tomorrow (24 October) until 12 November 2022. Items scheduled for consideration during the Session includes, amongst others, swearing in of new Members, proposals to amend the PAP Rules of Procedure, presentation and debate on the performance review of the PAP activities, presentation and debate on the African Union, and the presentation and debate on the status of peace and security in Africa.
On Tuesday, the NCOP will hold oral question and answer session with Ministers in the Social Services Cluster (Cluster 2B) which comprises of Health and Social Development while the NA, on the other hand, will consider the National Land Transport Amendment Bill and four oversight reports from Committees.
On Thursday, the NA will hold oral question and answer session with Ministers in the Peace and Security Cluster (Cluster 1) which consists of Defence and Military Veterans, Home Affairs, International Relations and Cooperation, Justice and Correctional Services, Police and the Minister in the Presidency.
Meanwhile, the NCOP will, during its sitting on Thursday, consider reports from the Select Committee on Security and Justice on the Protocol to the Constitutive Act of the African Union Relating to the Pan-African Parliament of 2014, tabled in terms of section 231(2) of the Constitution, 1996 and the Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of India, the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Republic of South Africa on the IBSA Fund for the Alleviation of Poverty and Hunger. Furthermore, the sitting will also consider the report of the Select Committee on Finance on the Draft Amendments of Schedules 1, 2 and 3 of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and also consider the Sectional Titles Amendment Bill. The House will conclude its business with a Debate on Water Infrastructure Network for Sustainable Water Supply to Communities under the title: “Building a viable Water Infrastructure for Sustainable and Reliable Water Supply to Communities.”
About 33 committee meetings are scheduled for this week to consider a range of issues including Bills, Budgetary Review and Recommendation Reports, oversight reports, interviews to fill vacancies in Chapter 9 institutions and public hearings.
