Parliament, Tuesday, 18 March 2025 – The National Assembly has passed the Public Service Commission (PSC) Bill during its plenary session today.

The Bill seeks to regulate the PSC and strengthen its independence by establishing a dedicated secretariat to support its operations. This move aligns with efforts to improve the performance and integrity of public administration while fostering a more efficient and responsive state.

According to the provisions of the Bill, the PSC will be recognised as a constitutional institution reporting directly to Parliament, similar to institutions established under Chapter 9 of the Constitution. The legislation is expected to reinforce the PSC’s mandate within the broader framework of public administration reform.

The Bill will now be referred to the National Council of Provinces for concurrence.
