The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) has released its latest question paper for the session scheduled on Thursday, 27 March 2025. The agenda includes oral questions directed at Deputy President Paul Mashatile, focusing on pressing national concerns, including water service delivery, economic revitalization, disaster management, land reform, and international peacekeeping efforts.

Key topics include the Water Task Team’s measures to ensure the delivery of reliable and quality drinking water to struggling municipalities, particularly in North West, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal. Questions will also address progress in repairing aging water infrastructure and enforcing maintenance plans across municipalities.

The Deputy President is expected to outline the government’s strategy for revitalizing state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as a means to enhance service delivery and job creation. Additionally, discussions will cover efforts to develop coordinated disaster management plans under the District Development Model, ensuring preparedness and response to climate-related emergencies.

Land reform remains a focal point, with inquiries into the government’s plans to expedite outstanding land claims and address those stalled by legal judgments. Other critical matters include reassessing South Africa’s role in peacekeeping missions, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and fostering government-social partner collaborations to tackle skills shortages and support young job seekers.
