Parliament, Wednesday, 12 November 2025 – The Chairpersons of Parliament’s Finance Committees will host a post-Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) media engagement session tomorrow, Thursday, 13 November 2025. The briefing will highlight critical work undertaken during the midterm budget review process, under the theme “Parliament’s Role in the Budget Process.”
During the session, the committee Chairpersons will outline their key focus areas in ensuring oversight over the state’s fiscal accountability, efficient spending, and inclusive economic growth.

Dr Mkhacani Maswanganyi, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance, will address issues related to public procurement, infrastructure, and broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE).

Ms Sanny Ndhlovu, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Finance, will speak on decisive action regarding the future of Mmabatho Airport, cost overruns on infrastructure projects, and consequence management for non-performing contractors.

Mr Songezo Zibi, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA), will focus on structural reforms, expenditure management, and local government fiscal oversight.

Ms Tidimalo Legwase, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Appropriations, will discuss the monitoring of conditional grants, forward-looking perspectives on the 2025 MTBPS, and preparations for the 2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).

Dr Mmusi Maimane, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations, will focus on debt, inflation, and investment in infrastructure.
