Cape Town Mayor Challenges Public Procurement Act in Constitutional Court
Cape Town, 9 June 2025 – Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill‑Lewis has filed a constitutional challenge against the newly enacted Public Procurement Act, taking the matter to South Africa’s highest court. This challenge follows a broader push by the Western Cape government, which earlier in May submitted its own application to the Constitutional Court seeking declaration of the law as unconstitutional and invalid.
