Parliamentary Programme for the Week Ahead
Parliament, Sunday, 7 September 2025 – Parliament’s programme this week will be dominated by oral reply sessions from the President, Deputy President, and Ministers in the Economic Cluster, alongside debates, legislative business, and more than two dozen committee meetings.
The National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will also continue with plenary sittings as part of the 7th Parliament’s rotational programme, which balances committee oversight, constituency work, and plenary debates.
Cluster Media Briefing
On Monday, 8 September, chairpersons of the Economic Services Cluster oversight committees will brief the media at Parliament under the theme “Opening new economic opportunities.”

Ms Khusela Sangoni Diko, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, will address broadcasting digital migration, broadband rollout, and the Post Bank.

Mr Mikateko Mahlaule, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources, will focus on strengthening state-owned entities, critical minerals, and illegal mining.

Mr Rikus Badenhorst, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Public Infrastructure and Minister in the Presidency, will discuss oversight of the Independent Development Trust, improvements in public buildings, debt owed to the Property Management Trading Entity, and interim alternatives to driving card licences.
National Assembly Plenaries

Tuesday, 9 September: President Cyril Ramaphosa will respond to oral questions from MPs in a hybrid plenary session at 14:00. These sessions take place quarterly as part of Parliament’s oversight of the executive.

Wednesday, 10 September: Economic Cluster Ministers will answer oral questions from 15:00. The session will include Ministers of Land Reform and Rural Development, Public Works and Infrastructure, Science, Technology and Innovation, Small Business Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry and Competition, and Transport.

Thursday, 11 September: The NA will consider the Immigration Amendment Bill, along with reports from committees on agriculture, correctional services, and the Auditor-General.

Friday, 12 September: Virtual mini-plenary sessions will run from 10:00 to 13:00 to consider nine committee reports.
National Council of Provinces Plenaries

Tuesday, 9 September: Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Ministers will answer oral questions at 14:00.

Wednesday, 10 September: The NCOP will debate Local Government Week during its 14:00 plenary.

Thursday, 11 September: Deputy President Paul Mashatile will respond to questions in a hybrid session starting at 14:00.

Tuesday, 9 September: Briefings on digital migration readiness, conditional grants in education, the Revenue Laws Amendment Bill, and performance reports from the Departments of Correctional Services, Public Works, and Minerals and Petroleum Resources.

Wednesday, 10 September: The Ingonyama Trust Board will appear before the Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development, while the Portfolio Committee on Police will consider first-quarter performance reports from SAPS, IPID, and CSPS.

Friday, 12 September: The Joint Standing Committee on Financial Management of Parliament will engage with the Parmed Medical Scheme, and the NCOP’s Select Committee on Public Petitions will consider the Magog village petition in KwaZulu-Natal.
