President Announces Changes to National Executive
The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, grants executive authority to the President, who exercises this authority alongside other cabinet members to fulfill constitutional and legislative mandates.
In accordance with section 91(2) of the Constitution, the President has announced changes to the national executive to enhance cabinet effectiveness in delivering on its mandate. The changes are as follows:
- Ms. Mmamoloko Tryphosa Kubayi, previously the Minister of Human Settlements, has been appointed as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development.
- Ms. Thembi Nkadimeng, formerly the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, has been appointed as the Minister of Human Settlements.
Additionally, in line with section 93(1)(a) of the Constitution:
- Ms. Phumzile Mgcina has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. She previously served as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment.
- Ms. Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour. She formerly held the position of Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
These changes are effective immediately. The President has extended his best wishes to the members of the national executive in their new roles.
